Here are some websites devoted to Jefferson County genealogy and family history that you will find interesting and informative.

MY INDIANA HOMEJEFFERSON COUNTY GENEALOGY
This website, created and maintained by Ruth and Brad Hoggatt, is an excellent source of Jefferson County genealogy and family history information. A search feature on the homepage makes locating family information within the website an easy task. Switzerland County information is also available on a related website.

MJCPL HISTORY RESCUE PROJECT
An ongoing endeavor of the Madison-Jefferson County Public Library, the History Rescue Project is devoted to transcribing and digitizing for the internet, historic records which have not been previously available to on-line researchers and which relate to Jefferson County genealogy and local history. Records available include birth, death and marriage records indexes; family histories; property tax records; Madison city directories; and much more. New information is added to the website regularly as transcription work progresses.

JEFFERSON COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY
The Genealogical Society meets reqularly at the Madison-Jefferson County Public Library.
Their website is being expanded to make available genealogy information not currently available elsewhere on the internet.

JEFFERSON COUNTY INGENWEB
This new website, which is affiliated with the Indiana GENWEB Project, is currently working to add more genealogy resources and information.

Library Hours

Wednesdays 10am – 4pm :: The Research Library is staffed by volunteers. Other hours, including weekends, can be arranged by appointment.
